Now, since restoring 8.1 and also 10 several times, there is no Filter driver anywhere, which makes sense that it hasn't detected it properly since whatever firmware killed the port. I have tried doing a restart, hard restart, uninstalling the existing keyboard drivers and clicking on scan for hardware changes, but the surface type cover filter device doesn't come back.
